Four Feeders & A Full Moon, 2020
Oil, Graphite, Oil Stick on Canvas
30 x 48 x 1.50 in
Four Full Feeders and a Full Moon is a painting in his Nature Chronicles-Seeing What is Outside from Inside Series. The idea behind the content is first and foremost an abstracted landscape painting with a viewpoint from inside his home, looking outside into his woods. He has set up a system of cables with bird feeders attached that he can pull-in and efficiently fill them all at the same time. His usual routine is to fill the feeders in the morning before breakfast, then watch the birds and squirrels come and feed as he himself feeds (breakfast and coffee). One particular morning in January 2020, he filled the feeders and saw a full moon setting in the western sky.
